WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — President Donald Trump informed his Cabinet that Elon Musk will resign from his government post in a few months, NBC News said. Musk, who has been leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to try to reduce federal expenditures, is expected to wrap up his 130-day tenure as an exceptional government employee late next month.

The designation of special government employees limits them to 130 workdays a year. Musk began his term on January 20, so his time will run out around mid-May. Politico also reported Musk’s impending departure, reporting that he and President Trump have talked and decided that he will resume work on his business activities.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt in response to the report said “this “scoop” is garbage. Elon Musk and President Trump have both *publicly* stated that Elon will depart from public service as a special government employee when his incredible work at DOGE is complete.”

President Trump has praised Musk’s work, attributing credit to him for his monumental contribution to the agenda of administration.

“I think he’s been terrific, but I also think he’s got a big company to run,” Trump stated. “At some point, he’s going to be going back. He wants to.” Musk’s rule has been marked by grand attempts at consolidating government power. His leadership style has not been to everyone’s taste, however.

Some officials in his administration view him as a political liability because he is seen as erratic and has recently ventured into politics by supporting losing candidates such as the Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate Brad Though he will be leaving the office soon, Musk would probably have an informal advisory role and could be seen occasionally at the White House. On term expiration, the government will gauge the success of its initiatives and weigh future directions for the Department of Government Efficiency.
