NEW DELHI (Diya TV) — Indian-American entrepreneur Pranitha Patil turned her own health challenges into the idea behind Function Health, a preventive health platform now valued at $2.5 billion.

In her 20s, Patil faced PCOS and pre-diabetes and said she struggled to get a complete picture of her health through the U.S. health care system.

While studying design engineering at Harvard University, she developed the idea for a platform that could give people more detailed health information. She later left Harvard early to build the company.

Patil co-founded Function Health in 2022 with Jonathan Swerdlin, Dr. Mark Hyman, Daniel Swerdlin, Mike Nemke and Seth Weisfeld.

The company initially focused on blood and urine testing before expanding into medical imaging and artificial intelligence.

Function Health says members receive access to 160 lab tests, advanced MRI and CT imaging, and AI tools that help explain results. Annual membership costs $365.

The platform is designed to provide a broader view of a person’s health by combining lab results, medical imaging, wearable data and previous health records over time.

An AI chatbot helps users understand their results, while the company’s medical intelligence system organizes information from multiple health sources.

Patil said the goal is to help people identify potential health concerns earlier and make more informed decisions.

The company has attracted investors as interest grows in preventive care, personalized health technology and consumer access to medical data.

Patil and her co-founders ultimately aim to make advanced health information more widely accessible and give people greater control over their health.
