The California Golden Bears defeated the Syracuse Orange 21-18, rallying from a 12-0 deficit at the JMA Wireless Dome.
Syracuse jumped out to an early 12-0 lead, but Cal’s defense and a steady passing game allowed them to storm back in the second half. The defining performance of the afternoon came from Cal defensive back Kingston Lopa, who recorded three interceptions.
Lopa completely swung the momentum by returning his second interception for a go-ahead fourth-quarter pick-six and then sealed the victory with his third interception in the final minute of the game. This is the first win for the Bears under head coach Tosh Lupoi, who received the game ball by Cal General Manager and former NFL head coach Ron Rivera.
