MALIBU, Calif. (Diya TV) — Security personnel stopped a woman who entered former Vice President Kamala Harris’ Malibu property Friday night before she reached the home, according to Harris’ spokesperson and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, were not at the property at the time, spokesperson Eduardo Negrón said.
“Last night, security personnel stopped an individual who illegally entered Vice President Harris and Second Gentleman Emhoff’s property before the individual reached the home,” Negrón said.
Harris’ private security contacted the sheriff’s department, and deputies responded around 10:30 p.m. Deputies found the woman outside the property and told her to leave. She complied and was not arrested.
The sheriff’s department filed a trespassing report and said deputies would increase patrols around the property.
The incident comes about a year after President Donald Trump ended Harris’ extended Secret Service protection. Federal law generally provides former vice presidents and their spouses with Secret Service protection for up to six months after leaving office, although additional temporary protection can be authorized.
Former President Joe Biden had extended Harris’ protection beyond the standard period. Trump ended that protection effective Sept. 1, 2025.
The California Highway Patrol continues to assist with Harris’ security but did not have officers at the Malibu property during Friday’s incident, according to the Los Angeles Times.
