MENLO PARK, Calif. (Diya TV) — Goodwin, a leading Global 50 law firm, announced Tuesday the addition of internationally recognized technology litigator and trial attorney Neel Chatterjee, who will join the firm’s Litigation Department and Intellectual Property Practice as a partner in the Silicon Valley office.
“Neel is frequently engaged to try high-stakes technology cases, argue cases of first impression and quarterback global vital disputes,” Douglas Kline, chair of Goodwin’s Intellectual Property Practice, said in a statement. “Neel combines an outstanding track record of litigation success with a sense of humor and a steadfast commitment to community service and diversity, making him a perfect cultural fit for Goodwin and our clients.”
“Goodwin shared with me its vision of building a market-leading, diverse technology litigation and trial practice on the West Coast to augment its internationally recognized platform,” said Chatterjee in a statement. “That vision was my dream job.”
Chatterjee has particular experience in the Northern District of California, the Eastern District of Texas and the District of Delaware. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley and as a member of the Federal Practice Program for the Northern District of California.
“At Orrick, I felt I had done as much as I could in terms of driving institutional change and building a practice. I felt like I needed some new challenges. Goodwin came to me and really wanted me to build a world class technology litigation and trial practice that was also diverse. This idea, which I somewhat jokingly call “Awesome LL”, really appealed to my entrepreneurial side and got me quite excited.”, Chatterjee told Diya TV.
He has been widely recognized as one of the nation’s leading technology litigators and trial lawyers. He was named an “IP Vanguard” by the California State Bar and an “IP Trailblazer and Pioneer” by the National Law Journal. Intellectual Asset Management, Managing IP, Chambers, Benchmark Litigation, the Recorder, the American Lawyer and the Daily Journal have all given him accolades for his work.
When asked about his efforts towards protecting civil liberties, Chatterjee added,
“A big chunk of our mission is changing the world one lawsuit at a time, and, as a diverse group of lawyers, impactful work is part of the mission. For example, Goodwin is litigating sanctuary city cases. That was consistent with our goal of protecting rights against government intrusion.”
In 2017, Goodwin’s Intellectual Property Practice was named by Law360 as a “Practice Group of the Year” for the third consecutive year, and was recently recognized in the National Law Journal’s “2016 Intellectual Property Hot List.”
