LOS ANGELES (Diya TV) — TiE Southern California celebrated their 25th anniversary in a big way by hosting their annual investor summit featuring fast growing startups seeking investment. Diya TV was a media partner of the weekend of festivities keynoted by one of founders of this global entrepreneurship group, Kanwal Rekhi. At their gala, TiE Global announced they have raised a $25 million endowment from 100 entrepreneurs to propel this ecosystem even further.
According to media reports, U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi will visit Taiwan on Tuesday. China has warned that its military would never “sit idly by” if Pelosi were to visit Taiwan, the self-ruled island claimed by Beijing. Pelosi is on tour with State Department official and Pakistani American Dilawar Syed and Indian American Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi.
And Celtics great Bill Russell, an 11-time NBA Champion and the first Black coach in league history, has died. He was 88. Russell also won two titles in college at University of San Francisco, and was a leading civil rights advocate, despite facing frequent threats to his life.
