SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) – Vice President Kamala Harris visited her home state of California after concluding her swing state tour with running mate Tim Walz, Minnesota State Governor. As the Democratic presidential nominee, Harris’ visit to San Francisco raised over $12 million according to her campaign.
California Representative and Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi attended the event at the Fairmont Hotel, and welcomed Harris “back home”.
“This is a good day when we welcome Kamala Harris back home to California,” Pelosi said about the former U.S. senator, attorney general and district attorney from the state. “She makes us all so proud. She brings us so much joy. She gives us so much hope.”
After moving to the top of the Democratic ticket, Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, have toured throughout multiple political swing states, packing rallies with thousands of people.
Harris’ campaign announced that in the month of July, it raised a record breaking $310 million.
At the fundraiser in San Francisco, Harris acknowledged the enthusiasm but cautioned against getting carried away with it.
“The energy is undeniable and yes, the crowds are large. We can take nothing for granted in this critical moment,” Harris said.
She discussed abortion and the policy changes Donald Trump said he would implement if elected back into office. Harris cited Trump as saying he would sign a national ban on abortion and warned that California would not be immune.
In addition to recognizing and giving words of appreciation to the turnout and enthusiasm shown at recent events, Harris noted the importance of hope and pride among the people for the future of the country.
“Folks are coming to these events and they’re bringing with them so much joy. People are singing and they’re dancing in the aisles long before we get there,” Harris said.
