NEW YORK (Diya TV) The global Bihari diaspora came together in New York on April 19 to celebrate Bihar Diwas 2026 with pride, purpose, and a clear focus on the future. The event, held at the Consulate General of India, honored four distinguished individuals with the Bihar Vishwa Gaurav Samman and highlighted Bihar’s growing momentum in development, industry, and technology.

A key highlight of the evening was the Bihar Vishwa Gaurav Samman 2026. Organizers honored Saroj Kumar Jha, Rajesh Sinha, Sanjay Choubey, and Hasmukh Ranjan for their achievements across sectors and their continued commitment to Bihar.

Each awardee shared a personal message. Jha stressed the importance of selfless service. Sinha credited his success to his father’s guidance. Choubey said strong personal values remain essential, even in the age of artificial intelligence. Ranjan, who joined virtually, called giving back to one’s roots a responsibility. Their stories resonated with the audience and reinforced the importance of community and connection.

Senior officials used the platform to outline Bihar’s development plans. Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit delivered a strong message to the global diaspora. He said Bihar is ready for transformation and invited people of Bihari origin to take part in this journey. He emphasized accountability in governance. He assured that the government would address challenges openly and work with transparency.

Industry Secretary Kundan Kumar echoed this message. He said “Bihar Hai Taiyar,” meaning Bihar is ready to move forward. He highlighted new policies, industrial growth, and investment opportunities. He urged the diaspora to contribute ideas, skills, and resources.

The event also spotlighted Bihar’s push into emerging technologies. Alok Kumar, chairman of Bihar Foundation USA – ETZ, spoke about the state’s efforts in artificial intelligence. He highlighted the establishment of a Center of Excellence in AI. He said this initiative reflects a forward-looking approach and aims to create new opportunities for young people. Kumar also acknowledged contributions from industry leaders and government officials who helped move the project forward. He said these efforts mark a major step in Bihar’s technological growth.

The celebration also honored Bihar’s rich cultural heritage. Performers presented traditional folk songs and dances. The audience enjoyed “Kaune Disame Le Ke Chalah Hai Batohiya,” along with Sama Chakeva-themed acts and songs popularized by Sharda Sinha. A skit traced Bihar’s long journey. It began with Emperor Ashoka and Nalanda University. It moved through Mahatma Gandhi’s Champaran movement and ended with modern AI-driven aspirations. The performance received a standing ovation. These cultural moments reminded attendees of Bihar’s deep history and vibrant traditions.

The event also featured the launch of “Gaon Ki Mitti Mitne Nahi Deti” by Santa Mishra. The book reflects the strong emotional bond between individuals and their roots. Community leaders shared their views on Bihar’s progress. Avinash Gupta spoke about changing perceptions and improving infrastructure. He encouraged people to move beyond outdated assumptions. Priti Kashyap, president of BJANA, stressed unity and youth engagement. She said the next generation must stay connected to their heritage while shaping the future.

India’s Consul General Binaya S. Pradhan addressed the gathering. He noted Bihar’s global presence and influence. He said almost everyone has a connection to someone from Bihar. He also highlighted Bihar’s historical legacy, including Nalanda University’s early adoption of coeducation. He praised organizations like Bihar Foundation and BJANA for strengthening community ties. The event brought together leaders, professionals, and families from across the diaspora. It created a shared space for dialogue, celebration, and collaboration.
