Ali Zafar, 73 (Fontana Police Department)

LOS ANGELES (Diya TV) — Ali Zafar, a 73-year-old Pakistani-American man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly killing three family members and wounding a fourth because of a dispute over money.

Zafar was taken into custody on suspicion of murder, according to Fontana police Sgt. Kevin Goltara.

Police said the shooting stemmed from a “longstanding financial family issue” that Zafar had with relatives. The victims, who have not yet been identified, were found about 2:54 a.m. after police received a report of a shooting at the Village Drive Apartments, Goltara said.

When officers arrived, they found Zafar wandering his apartment complex with a handgun, Goltara said. He immediately dropped his weapon and followed officers’ commands, he said. Inside one of the apartments at the complex, police found two women and a man dead from gunshot wounds. They were shot in the upper torso, Goltara said.

At least one of the victims was found in bed, police said.

A fourth gunshot victim was also found, he was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition. Police later discovered another woman who hid in a closet when she heard the gunfire. She was unharmed.

“It’s probably what saved her life,” Goltara said.
