SEATTLE (Diya TV) — Seattle University, in collaboration with the Consulate General of India in Seattle, inaugurated the first India Culture Week. The three-day event is designed to provide students with an immersive exposure to India’s deep cultural heritage featured a richly diversified program.
Highlights of the celebration included a cultural dance, regional food festival with typical Indian cuisine, and a workshop on Indian heritage arts focused on Madhubani painting. There were also wellness sessions, a photo exhibition under the title “India Through Tim’s Eyes,” and the inauguration of an “India Corner” at the university library-an inventory of 100 curated books donated by the Indian Consulate.
The week also celebrated India’s diversity through dance, when “Natyam: A Dance Mosaic of Bharat,” brought together India’s regional dance forms. Local Seattle artists added vibrancy to the inaugural festivities. The event was opened by Seattle University President Eduardo M. Peñalver and Prakash Gupta, Consul General of India, with students and members of the Indian American diaspora in attendance.
