PALM BEACH, Fla. (Diya TV) — President-elect Donald Trump declared that a “free, fair, and open media” is integral to making America “great again” in an interview with Fox News. Trump emphasized his commitment to working with the press, even those who have been critical of him.
While stating how important the media was to the country’s success, he also added that if he feels the press is unfair, then he would rethink his willingness to cooperate. “I have an obligation to the American public.to be open and available to the press,” he said.
Trump gave insights into the plans and processes that are transforming the U.S. to a “great, powerful country around the world,” stressing that media play a significant role in doing this. He also indicated openness to further communications with reporters, some of whom are hostile towards him. This is after meeting with MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski. It marked his first meeting with the duo in seven years. He described the discussion as being “cordial” and appreciated open communication.
Still, Trump also praised journalists who told the truth and were professional during his time in office, crediting them with being part of the reason he was able to win the election. “They were the ones that kept me in the game, and they were the ones that gave me a victory,” Trump said.
As Trump prepares to take office, he maintains a strong stance on re-establishing relationships with the media, emphasizing the importance of a functioning press for the country’s long-term success.
