CHICAGO (Diya TV) — Raja Krishnamoorthi, congressional candidate and president of Chicago-based Sivananthan Labs, announced last week he has raised more than $830,000 during the second fundraising quarter of 2016 and has more than $1.1 million in cash-on-hand.

Even after parting with significant amounts of resources to engineer his commanding March 15 Democratic primary victory with nearly 60 percent of the vote in the three-candidate race, Raja has quickly retooled his campaign and emerged in a strong position heading into November’s general election. The second quarter benchmarks represent Raja’s most successful fundraising quarter to date, as he seeks to succeed Tammy Duckworth in the Illinois 8th congressional district.

The district includes the west and northwest Chicago suburbs.

“The amazing outpouring of support has put our campaign in a position to go to Washington to stand up for the middle class,” Krishnamoorthi said. “Voters will know that they can count on me to protect their Social Security and Medicare benefits, fight for equal pay for equal work, and push for access to affordable college education.”

His fundraising efforts have gone almost entirely unmatched by opponents, and has been complimented by the support from more than 100 Illinois leaders and activists. This in addition to his active and growing volunteer organization.

A small businessman, Krishnamoorthi’s time as president of Sivananthan Labs and Episolar, Inc. has been used selling products in the national security and renewable energy sectors. He is a co-founder of InSPIRE, a non-profit organization that provides training to Illinois students and veterans in solar technology, and was formerly Vice-Chairman of the Illinois Innovation Council, whose mission is to promote innovative technologies that support economic growth and job creation in Illinois.
