NEW YORK (Diya TV) — Radhika Apte, whose surging performances in films such as Shor in the City, Manjhi: The Mountain Man and Badlapur, came full circle as she was selected for Best Actress (in International Narrative) honors at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
She was selected for the honor after her latest performance in the film Madly, a film that is a combination of six stories portraying comtemporary love by six different directors from around the world. Apte appears in a 20-minute segment called Clean Shaven, which was directed by Anurag Kashyap. A clip from the short, featuring a semi-nude Apte, was leaked a few months ago and triggered a controversy.
Apte becomes the first Indian actress to win the award at the Tribeca Film Festival, which was founded in 2002. She joins the company of Zoe Kazan, Hanna Murray, Rachel Mwanza and other women who have won the prestigious award in the past.
