Embracing the summer vibes, Mindy Kaling’s latest venture has hit the shores with a splash. Over the Memorial Day weekend, Andie Swim unveiled a captivating glimpse into its campaign shoot for the celebrity’s second collaboration, Mindy x Andie Summer Camp, which launched on May 14.
Captured in the shot is the 44 year old Kaling herself striking a pose atop a boulder, adorned in the vibrant Maui Top paired with its matching Bikini Bottom from her latest collection. The line doesn’t stop there, offering an array of one-pieces, cover-ups, and other essential waterside attire.
Quoting the brand’s caption accompanying the image, “‘Whether you’re splashing around or making a fire, The Maui Top can do it all,'” beckoning enthusiasts to secure their piece from the Mindy x Andie Summer Camp collection before it’s off the shelves.
Adding more allure to the mix, Kaling took to her Instagram, treating followers to a behind-the-scenes video from the shoot. The clip showcases her jotting down the names of each swimsuit style on Polaroid pictures of herself modeling them.
In the social media realm, fans flooded the comments section with admiration, dubbing Kaling as “Hot AF” and her swimwear designs as “All beautiful like you.”
This isn’t Kaling’s inaugural collaboration with Andie Swim; last year, she introduced a vibrant 33-piece collection in May 2023. Reflecting on her vision for the collaboration, Kaling expressed, “I wanted the collection to be bold, fun, and empowering, full of pieces that make you look and feel amazing.”
Last year’s campaign shot saw Kaling recreating a scene from “Legally Blonde,” lounging on a pink pool float in a yellow bikini, exuding Elle Woods’ iconic charm.
While Kaling garnered attention for her fitness journey, reportedly shedding over 40 pounds, she shifted the focus away from her body transformation, preferring not to dwell on the topic in interviews. Instead, she redirected the conversation towards her confidence and overall well-being.
“I wanted the collection to be bold, fun, and empowering, full of pieces that make you look and feel amazing,” she said in a press release at the time.
“I’m feeling really confident in my body these days, which is not something that I’ve been able to say for my whole life, unfortunately,” she told People at the time.
But while the “Mindy Project” alum said she was feeling “great” after slimming down, she’s since stopped speaking about her full-body makeover in interviews.
“It’s not super exciting for me to talk about my body and how it’s analyzed,” she told Allure in July 2023. “So I think I’m just not going to get into it because it takes over the conversation unfortunately and people take it so personally.”
As Kaling continues to make waves in the fashion scene, her collaborations serve as a testament to her multifaceted talents, blending style with empowerment and fun in every piece.
