WASHINGTON (Diya TV) —

In a historic display of support, Vice President Kamala Harris raised an unprecedented $81 million within the first 24 hours of launching her campaign for President, following President Biden’s decision to not pursue a second term and endorse Harris for the Democratic nomination. The cash haul is the largest 24-hour raise in presidential history and significantly bolsters the already substantial $240 million war chest amassed for the 2024 election cycle.

The funds were raised across the campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and various joint fundraising committees. This surge in financial support is joined by numerous endorsements from federal and state elected officials, as well as major Democratic and advocacy groups.

More than 888,000 grassroots donors contributed within the past 24 hours, with 60% of them making their first donation of the 2024 cycle. This marks the highest 24-hour raise by any candidate in history. Additionally, 43,000 new recurring donors have committed, with more than half signing up for weekly donations, according to campaign officials.

The campaign’s efforts were fueled by events like Win with Black Women, which alone raised approximately $1.6 million in grassroots contributions. Harris’s official campaign account, @KamalaHQ, saw its following double overnight.

Kevin Munoz, spokesperson for Harris for President, said the fundraising achievement demonstrates unity behind the Harris campaign.

“The historic outpouring of support for Vice President Harris represents exactly the kind of grassroots energy and enthusiasm that wins elections,” Munoz stated. “Already, we are seeing a broad and diverse coalition come together to support our critical work of talking to the voters that will decide this election. There is a groundswell behind Kamala Harris, and Donald Trump is terrified because he knows his divisive, unpopular agenda can’t stand up to the Vice President’s record and vision for the American people.”

Harris, if elected, would be America’s first female President. Early polls indicate she is trailing former President Trump nationally and in swing states. She still needs to officially secure the Democratic nomination for President in August when her party holds their national convention in Chicago.
