NEW DELHI (Diya TV) — Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will travel to the United States from Dec. 24 to Dec. 29 to discuss a range of bilateral, regional, and global issues. During his trip, Jaishankar will meet with key U.S. officials to enhance cooperation on trade, security, and diplomatic matters. He will also chair a conference with India’s Consul Generals based in the U.S. to strengthen diplomatic ties.

The visit occurs at a time when there is increasing economic and strategic cooperation between the two nations, especially in the Indo-Pacific region. Discussions may include trade policies, defense cooperation, and technological collaborations.

Before the visit of Jaishankar, U.S. Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti stated the need for increased trade relationships between the two countries. Speaking at an event in New Delhi on Dec. 19, Garcetti highlighted the need for both nations to lower tariffs and make trade more equitable. “We need, together, to lower tariffs, not to see them go up. We need, together, to increase trade and to make it fairer and more equal,” Garcetti said. He further emphasized the need for building talent and workforce skills for the needs of companies both in the U.S. and India.

The ties between the U.S. and India have been particularly strong in recent years with both countries working closely together on issues such as defense, climate change, and technology. Jaishankar’s visit is going to further strengthen the efforts in building a partnership that will further solidify between the world’s two biggest democracies.
