WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — President-elect Trump has appointed Indian American entrepreneur Sriram Krishnan as his senior policy adviser on artificial intelligence (AI) as part of his 2024 presidential campaign. Krishnan, an expert in AI and technology, will advise Trump’s team on the strategic development of AI in various sectors, including national security, healthcare, and economic growth.

Krishnan, who was born in Chennai, India before coming to the US, became a Silicon Valley insider after working with a number of major technology companies, including Facebook, Twitter, and Snap. His strong background in machine learning and AI-based innovation has also positioned him as one of the prime voices in tech policy that he will use now to generate Trump’s AI policy framework.

Trump said that Krishnan’s appointment was important in light of his experience handling complex AI challenges. “Sriram is a brilliant innovator, and his insights will be essential in making sure the United States stays ahead in AI development,” Trump said in a statement from his campaign headquarters in Florida. “We are focused on keeping American jobs secure while ensuring our national security is protected by leveraging cutting-edge technology.”

Krishnan will focus on developing policies that promote AI innovation while dealing with the potential challenges of job displacement due to automation, data privacy concerns, and the ethical use of AI. As AI becomes an increasingly central force in global economic and technological competition, Krishnan’s role will be to balance the benefits of AI-driven growth with mitigating its risks.

Krishnan’s experience working in Silicon Valley gives Trump’s team an edge in understanding the practical applications of AI and its long-term implications. He is expected to advise on policies that will help the U.S. retain its competitive edge in AI, particularly against countries like China, which has made significant investments in AI research and development.

On accepting the role, Krishnan said, “Artificial intelligence holds enormous potential to transform industries, and I am honored to be part of President Trump’s team. My focus will be on ensuring the U.S. remains at the forefront of this technology while developing policies that protect American workers and consumers.”
