SINGAPORE (Diya TV) — Indian External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr. S. Jaishankar embarked on a three-day official visit to Singapore, marking the first leg of his broader engagement across Southeast Asia. During the visit from March 23 to 25, 2024, Jaishankar engaged in comprehensive discussions aimed at deepening the strategic partnership between India and Singapore.

Jaishankar held several bilateral meetings with Singaporean leaders and ministers, focusing on strengthening cooperation in key areas such as fintech, digitalization, green economy, skills development, and food security. Notable engagements included discussions with Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Lee Hsien Loong and Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Lawrence Wong, among others.

Moreover, Jaishankar paid homage to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at the INA marker in Singapore, highlighting the historical ties between India and Singapore. He also interacted with members of the Indian community and participated in an event organized by the Institute of South Asian Studies (ISAS), fostering dialogue with think tanks and policymakers.

Reflecting on India’s relations with Russia, Jaishankar expressed confidence in the future of the bilateral ties, emphasizing the longstanding positive relationship between the two countries. 

The visit to Singapore served as a platform to reaffirm India’s commitment to enhancing regional cooperation and strengthening ties with key partners in Southeast Asia.
