WASHINGTON D.C. (Diya TV) – Hundreds of current and future political leaders gathered in Washington for the Indian American Impact Summit, an annual event that is building connective tissue between candidates and those that support them. Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval, Congressman Ro Khanna, Raja Krishnamoorthi and Shri Thanedar were among the electeds sharing their wisdom to the next generation.

Srinivasa Murthy Jonnalagadda, an Indian American father of two who couldn’t swim, drowned at a beach in Santa Cruz, California while rescuing his child from a riptide. Despite efforts from a Samaritan, he was pulled into deeper waters. Emergency personnel retrieved him and initiated CPR, but he passed away at Stanford Hospital. A fundraiser has been set up to help his family with funeral expenses.

With news that the man who beat him in November is stepping down to take another job, Indian American Rishi Bagga announced he is running again for Florida’s House seat in District 35 in the Orlando area. Bagga is an attorney, hotelier and former National President of the South Asian Bar Association.
