WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — Indian Ambassador to the U.S. Navtej Sarna hosted the first-ever Consular Open House at the Indian Embassy in the nation’s capital, where discussions of visas, passports and OCI cards took place.

The event is the first in a series of new initiatives announced by Sarna, and despite the short notice and horrible weather conditions, the event was attended by several enthusiastic community members.

From the Indian Embassy’s official press release on the event:

Apart from personal grievances, various general issues and queries raised by visitors were also responded to by the Embassy officials. There was a general sense of appreciation by the visitors to the ‘Open House’ concept initiated by the Embassy. Similar ‘Open Houses’ were also held in all Indian Consulates located in the U.S.A. The ‘Open Houses’ will continue to be held regularly on a fortnightly basis.
