SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) — Google CEO Sundar Pichai will visit his alma mater IIT Kharagpur, where he began his engineering studies, during his private visit to India on Jan. 5.

“Sundar Pichai, CEO Google and Distinguished Alumnus of IIT Kharagpur, has expressed his desire to visit the campus in the first week of January 2017,” IIT-Kgp director Partha Pratim Chakrabarti said in an announcement.

Pichai plans to discuss his past, present and future in a forum which has been titled ‘A journey back to the past to inspire the future.’ He graduated from the school with a BTech degree in metallurgical and materials engineering. Pichai then moved on to Stanford University, where he received his master’s in engineering and material science, and finally an MBA from the Wharton School of Business.

Pichai originally joined Google in 2004 as the company’s vice president of product management, where he spearheaded the development of Google Chrome’s browser and operating system. He was elevated to chief executive of the $527 billion company last year.

Google have large projects planned in India, including one which intents to provide free WiFi signals at 400 railway stations across the country. Though Pichai is traveling through on vacation, he is holding an event on Jan. 4 where new announcements for small businesses and startups are expected.
