SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) – US President Joe Biden has nominated Indian-American lawyer Richard Verma to a top position in the State Department. If confirmed by the US Senate to become Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources, Verma would be the highest ranking Indian-American in the State Department. The 54 year old Verma is also a former US Ambassador to India and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he served as a judge advocate.

The Indian Army says 16 soldiers died and four others injured in a road accident at Zema in North Sikkim. According to the official statement, three were Junior Commissioned Officers. The accident happened when their vehicle skidded off while making a sharp turn.

Indian American venture capitalist Kanwal Rekhi is pledging more than $2 million to promote rural entrepreneurship in India. Rekhi is a co-founder of Inventus Capital and was the first Indian American founder and CEO to take a venture backed company public on the NASDAQ stock exchange.
