SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) — The U.S. Coast Guard was searching the Mississippi River near Donaldsonville, La. for a ship captain who fell into the water Sunday morning while trying to board a freighter from a crew boat. Authorities said Ambarish Parekh was last seen at about 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning wearing a personal flotation device.

The search was suspended Monday evening. The Coast Guard searched with boats, helicopters and an Ascension Parish fire boat crew. The search for Parekh, 65, spanned 223 miles, from the Crescent City Connection Bridge to mile marker 180, over the course of two days, the agency said.

Parekh was reportedly attempting to board the African Raptor from a crew boat. He fell from a ramp connecting the two vessels, officials said. The Coast Guard said it dispatched a 29-foot response boat, a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew and a Mobile HC-144 fixed-wing aircraft from New Orleans.
