NEW YORK CITY (Diya TV) — Police say a Bangladeshi student was pushed on to a New York City Subway track and was crushed by a train. Now the community is warning fellow expats through social media to watch their backs. Officials say 24-year-old Zinat Hossain was a student at Hunter College in Brooklyn. It’s unclear if this was a hate crime but authorities say her attackers may have been trying to take her bag.
Silicon Valley-based entrepreneur and philanthropist Asha Jadeja is launching a new program to help reclaim India’s history beyond the lens of white colonialism.
Through the Rajeev Circle History Scholars Program, grants will be given out to scholars, who are focused on publishing high quality, well-researched Indian history books. She says there is an urgent need for serious scholarship that revists these aspects in a modern contemporary context.
