WASHINGTON DC (Diya TV) — The Indian American Impact Summit and Gala is underway in Washington D.C. Elected officials, business leaders, and influencers will be engaged in conversations about getting more Indian Americans and South Asians into public office and advancing civil rights in the diaspora.  Some of the hot button topics will be pathways to citizenship and climate change. Diya TV is the lead media sponsor this year. 

Members of Congress including Indian American Representative Ami Bera held a press conference alongside the largest group of Documented Dreamers ever to visit Capitol Hill. They’re calling for passage of the America’s Children Act, bipartisan legislation which would protect Documented Dreamers, who are dependents of long-term nonimmigrant visa holders, from aging out of the system when they turn 21.

Only three women born in India have landed Division I basketball scholarships. Two of them landed at Arizona, including sophomore forward Sanjana Ramesh, who’s expected to take her game to the next level and expand the popularity of basketball in India.
