Indian American judicial nominee Nusrat Choudhury is under fire after being accused of flip flopping over a past statement about police shootings. Choudhury is Biden’s pick for New York City federal trial court and allegedly claimed a few years ago that police shoot unarmed black people every day in the United States. She recently doubled down again on that statement. But just this month, Choudhury told the Senate committee she had never made such a statement. Republicans are pushing for a second hearing to question Choudhury’s about-face.
Police say a Sikh woman was robbed in Queen’s New York. It’s the 5th attack this year on a Sikh person in the Richmond Hill neighborhood. Community members fear they’re being targeted.
