SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) — Vinod Khosla, renowned for his early investment in OpenAI, is doubling down on AI innovation with Symbolica, a startup launching today with a $33 million Series A funding round led by Khosla Ventures.

Symbolica aims to revolutionize AI by developing smaller, more efficient models capable of human-like reasoning. Khosla praised the company’s fresh approach to addressing AI challenges, emphasizing the importance of innovation in the field.

Current models are reliant on massive data and computing power. Symbolica says their architecture draws from mathematical theory to enhance machine learning while offering greater transparency and control. Led by former Tesla engineer George Morgan, Symbolica’s team of experts wants to redefine AI development.

Morgan’s departure from Tesla stemmed from disagreements over AI strategy, leading him to found Symbolica. Khosla initially invested $2 million to validate Symbolica’s concept, impressed by its potential contribution to AI advancement.

Symbolica is already collaborating with Google DeepMind. Morgan is critical of the current state of AI, saying it’s akin to “alchemy.” He believes Symbolica’s approach will yield superior models capable of coding and reasoning.
