NEW YORK (Diya TV) — The Trump Organization is looking to expand its presence in India by launching its first commercial real estate project, the Trump World Center Pune. Under the partnership with Tribeca Developers and Kundan Spaces, the company will be developing a two-tower office park spread over 4.3 acres, with estimated sales of more than $289 million.
Situated in Pune’s North Main Road area, the complex will have more than 27 floors and will comprise 1.6 million square feet of office space. The first tower will have offices available for sale, and the second will have options for leasing. The project will be completed by 2029 and marks the Trump Organization’s strategic growth in India, where four Trump-labeled towers are already present in Pune, Mumbai, Gurugram, and Kolkata.
The Trump Organisation is based in India on the brand licensing format, where domestic developers finance, build and sell properties in the Trump brand without the firm’s direct investment. This gives Indian developers a chance to take advantage of the Trump name without the firm assuming the financial and operational responsibilities for the project.
Eric Trump, who is the Trump Organization’s executive vice president, emphasized the popularity of the brand in India, saying, “India has welcomed the Trump brand with incredible passion. Following our successful partnership on several iconic residential developments, we are delighted to introduce our first commercial property project in India.”
Although Donald Trump has handed over his business empire to his sons and put his holdings in a trust, some opponents say that those steps do not completely distance him from the firm. The new ethics policy for the Trump Organization, released in January, allows for partnerships with private companies while banning deals with foreign governments.
This policy change has attracted criticism from ethicists worried about possible conflicts of interest posed by foreign investment in Trump-titled properties.
This comes on the heels of recent meetings between Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as Indian leaders work to solve trade tensions and possible tariffs.
