NEW YORK (Diya TV) — Tony Romo and CBS Sports have mutually agreed to part ways, the network announced Friday, ending his tenure as its lead NFL analyst.

J.J. Watt will continue alongside play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz and sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson on CBS’s top broadcast team for the rest of the season.

Romo said he plans to take a break from work and focus on his health and family before pursuing another opportunity. CBS thanked the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback for his contributions and wished him well.

The announcement follows Romo’s arrest during a Milwaukee traffic stop in July. CBS subsequently placed him on leave. He pleaded no contest to operating while intoxicated in September.

A court suspended his driving privileges and ordered him to pay a fine and complete an alcohol assessment program.

After entering his plea, Romo said chronic pain from football injuries had contributed to dependence on pain medication and later an over reliance on alcohol. He said he accepted responsibility for his actions.

Romo joined CBS after retiring from the Cowboys and worked with Nantz throughout his broadcasting career.

Watt initially replaced Romo during his leave. The former Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals defensive star joined CBS as a studio analyst before moving into game broadcasts alongside Ian Eagle.

CBS said its other announcing teams will remain unchanged, including Eagle, analyst Ross Tucker and sideline reporter Evan Washburn.
