SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) — One day after India’s “surgical strikes,” Pakistan have fired back, attacking two Indian positions at two locations along the line of control and international border.
Pakistani and Indian forces exchanges gunfire in Jammu region in the past 12 hours, in fresh ceasefire violations by the former.
Police said at least two spots in Nowshera’s Salal and Baba Khor areas witnessed exchange of fire around 10 a.m. The battles were conducted with fully automatic rifles, causing several civilians in the area to flee for their lives. Earlier, Akhnoor’s Pallanwalla area saw major exchange of fire between 12.30 a.m. and 1.30 a.m.
Many on the ground have said the frequency of Pakistan fire has increased and Indian troops were retaliating in “equal measure.” The ceasefire violations come one day after the Indian Army struck along the line of control on militant launchpads, killing scores of individuals.
Friday’s violation amounts to the fifth in the month of September alone and the third in the past 36 hours. On Thursday, Pakistani troops resorted to firing in Balnoie area of Mendhar sector without any casualty. Two days prior, Pakistan violated ceasefire by opening fire on Indian Army posts along the line of control in the Sabzian area Poonch sector.
Pakistani troops additionally had fired on Indian Army posts along the line of control in Poonch sector on Sept. 6. On Sept. 2, Pakistani troops violated ceasefire by firing on forward Army posts along the line of control in the Akhnoor sector.
Last year, 16 civilians were killed and 71 others injured in 405 incidents of cross-border firing by Pakistan, one officer said.
