NEW YORK (Diya TV) — The highly anticipated debut of India Weekend in New York City, organized by the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC), has been postponed indefinitely. The event was scheduled to run from September 12-14 at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. NMACC announced the postponement, citing “unforeseen circumstances,” though the organization did not provide further details. Ticket holders will receive full refunds, the cultural center said.

The NMACC India Weekend was billed as a global celebration of Indian heritage, blending music, dance, theater, fashion, and cuisine. It was to feature the U.S. premiere of The Great Indian Musical: Civilization to Nation, India’s largest theatrical production, with more than 100 performers.

The event also promised immersive experiences in Indian culture. Michelin-starred chef Vikas Khanna had been set to showcase traditional and modern Indian cuisine. Attendees were expected to explore the Great Indian Bazaar, enjoy yoga and dance sessions, and attend performances by renowned Indian singers, including Shankar Mahadevan, Shreya Ghoshal, Parthiv Gohil, and Rishab Sharma.

Nita Ambani, founder and chairperson of NMACC, expressed her disappointment over the postponement. “The NMACC India Weekend is a dream very close to my heart – a celebration of Indian culture on the global stage,” she said. “This is not a cancellation, only a pause. We remain fully committed to bringing the NMACC experience to New York at a later date.”

Ambani thanked artists, guests, sponsors, and supporters for their trust and encouragement. She emphasized that NMACC remains dedicated to its vision of showcasing the best of India to the world and bringing the best of the world to India. “We will return with renewed joy, pride, and purpose,” she added.

In the months leading up to the event, Nita Ambani was actively involved in curating the festival in New York City. She collaborated with top Indian artists and organizers to ensure the weekend would be a rich cultural experience. The NMACC India Weekend aimed to highlight India’s traditions while embracing innovation in art, music, and cuisine.

The cultural showcase was expected to attract audiences from across the United States and around the world. It was poised to be NMACC’s first international event, marking a major milestone for the organization. While NMACC has promised full refunds to ticket holders, it has not yet announced new dates for the India Weekend in New York. Organizers say the postponement is temporary and the event will return in the future with the same scale and grandeur.

The announcement has sparked disappointment among fans and supporters of Indian arts and culture in New York. Many had been eagerly anticipating the festival as a unique opportunity to experience India’s music, dance, fashion, and culinary heritage on a global stage.

NMACC, which is part of the Reliance Foundation, continues to focus on promoting Indian culture worldwide. The postponement of India Weekend in New York highlights the challenges of organizing large-scale international cultural events. Despite the delay, NMACC has reaffirmed its commitment to creating meaningful experiences that celebrate India’s rich traditions and contemporary creativity.

By bringing artists, chefs, and performers together under one roof, the NMACC India Weekend was designed to foster cultural exchange and appreciation. Organizers hope to announce a new schedule soon, allowing audiences to enjoy the full spectrum of Indian culture in New York City. As Nita Ambani said, “This is only a pause. We look forward to the day we can finally celebrate together.”
