BRUNSWICK, Maine (Diya TV) — Nirav Shah’s campaign for governor of Maine is gaining early momentum, fueled by strong fundraising, positive polling, and a growing list of supporters across the state. In its first campaign finance report, the campaign announced it raised $510,000 from nearly 1,600 individual donors, signaling broad grassroots enthusiasm just months into the race.

The fundraising total reflects contributions from all 16 Maine counties. Campaign officials say the wide geographic spread shows Shah’s message is resonating beyond any single region or demographic group. Donors include health care workers, educators, small business owners, retirees, and young voters participating in a political campaign for the first time.

Shah, a former director of the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said the early support has been energizing. He credited conversations with voters across the state for shaping his campaign’s direction.

“I’ve been incredibly energized by these first few months on the trail,” Shah said. “I’ve heard real ideas and real concerns from people across Maine. This support shows that voters want a tested and compassionate leader who focuses on solving real problems.”

The fundraising news follows a recent Pan Atlantic Research poll that placed Shah in first place in the Democratic primary field. The survey showed him with the highest level of likely voter support among declared candidates.

The campaign says the poll reflects what it has seen on the ground. Voters have responded to his focus on core issues such as affordability, housing, health care access, and economic growth. His supporters often cite his experience managing complex challenges during his time at the Maine CDC.

Political observers note that early polling does not guarantee victory. Still, they say strong numbers at this stage can help a campaign attract volunteers, donors, and endorsements.

Shah’s campaign also gained a notable endorsement from 314 Action, a national organization that works to elect doctors and scientists to public office. The group said it backed Shah because of his background in public health and his commitment to evidence-based decision-making.

Shah’s campaign message centers on issues that affect daily life for Maine families. He has made housing affordability a top priority, pointing to rising rents and limited housing supply across the state. He has also emphasized the need to strengthen the health care system, especially in rural areas.

Other key themes include funding health care services, ensuring children have access to food, and supporting economic growth that benefits both small towns and larger cities. Shah has also said he will push back against what he describes as overreach by the Trump administration, framing himself as a steady leader who will stand up for Maine’s interests.

Before entering the governor’s race, Shah served as head of the Maine CDC. Shah is also an attorney and an economist. He often points to this mix of experience as a strength, saying it allows him to understand policy, budgets, and real-world impacts at the same time.

With months remaining before the Democratic primary, the Shah campaign says it plans to invest heavily in organizing and voter outreach. Staff members are focused on building a statewide operation rooted in listening to communities and earning trust.
