LOS ANGELES (Diya TV) — Actor and former White House staff member Kal Penn recently announced that he wants to be a permanent host on The Daily Show after filling in for last season. Speaking with People, Penn recalled his excitement from hosting two weeks of the Comedy Central program:. He said, “They claim Jon [Stewart] is coming back for one season. The fanboy part of me says I hope Jon stays on The Daily Show because I’m such a fan and grew up on it.
The fact that Jon Stewart, who led the show from 1999 to 2015, is coming back has excited fans. This season of 2024, Stewart has guest hosted the show on multiple occasions. Penn apparently wants the slot in case Stewart leaves after the election. “There’s a lot of fun stuff happening. Any time we’re around an election, it’s so tense, so what I love about what I do in the comedy space is you have the chance to do the ‘opposite’ of the stress,” he said.
Besides his eagerness to join the ranks of The Daily Show, he is also excited to recreate his role as Kumar in the eventual fourth installment of the Harold & Kumar franchise. “I would love to do that if it works out,” he said enthusiastically, referring to the reunion he could have with co-star John Cho.
