TORONTO (Diya TV) — India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held key bilateral meetings with his Canadian and U.S. counterparts on the sidelines of the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Niagara, Canada. The two-day event, which includes India as an invited partner, focused on global cooperation, regional stability, and economic partnerships.
Jaishankar met Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand to review progress under the India–Canada New Roadmap 2025. The roadmap aims to strengthen cooperation in areas such as trade, technology, education, security, and people-to-people connections.
Both leaders discussed ongoing collaboration between law enforcement agencies from both countries. They noted positive developments in bilateral dialogue following recent high-level exchanges. The talks reflected a shared commitment to rebuilding trust and advancing mutual interests.
Anand expressed condolences for those who lost their lives in the explosion in Delhi on November 10. She also reaffirmed Canada’s solidarity with India during this difficult time. According to Canada’s Department of Global Affairs, this was Jaishankar and Anand’s third meeting in 2025, underscoring the momentum in diplomatic engagement.
Jaishankar, who is visiting Canada at Anand’s invitation, welcomed the progress achieved through the roadmap. He emphasized the importance of stable, constructive relations between India and Canada. The two leaders agreed to maintain open communication and continue cooperation on key initiatives under the roadmap.
In another major engagement, Jaishankar met U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio to discuss the growing India–U.S. partnership. Their conversation covered a range of issues, including trade, supply chains, defense cooperation, and regional security.
The meeting came just days after President Donald Trump announced that Washington and New Delhi were close to finalizing a new trade agreement. The development signals a new phase of economic cooperation between the two democracies.
Jaishankar and Rubio also discussed global challenges such as the conflict in Ukraine, the crisis in the Middle East, and the evolving situation in the Indo-Pacific region. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to a free, open, and rules-based Indo-Pacific.
Rubio praised India’s leadership role in global affairs, while Jaishankar highlighted the shared democratic values that continue to guide the India–U.S. relationship. The two ministers agreed to deepen collaboration on critical and emerging technologies, clean energy, and resilient supply chains.
