SANTA CLARA (Diya TV) Mahendra Singh Dhoni (Dhoni) the “Cool Captain” of the Indian Cricket team is a well known player for his success. Everyone knows him as great wicket keeper and a batsman. The fame and success stars only shined upon him since he became a cricketer, but no one is aware of his hardships that brought him to where he is today. MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, directed by the National Award winner Neeraj Pandey stars Sushant Singh Rajput in the role of Dhoni. The film explores the journey of an athlete, one with many talents and more challenges. Dhoni’s stardom in cricket did not start with a love for the game of cricket as one would typically expect, hence the title – The Untold Story.
The film’s trailer was released last Thursday and is already creating a buzz among the social media websites. In the trailer, the movie starts with Dhoni playing as a goalkeeper in the football team. Noticing this incident, his teacher asks him if he’s interested in playing cricket and replies “Cricket mei batting acha lagta hai”. Nevertheless, his teacher insists him to learn wicket keeping first over batting.
The trailer which has gone viral already has over 5.6 million views on YouTube shows how young Dhoni had many talents as an athlete and worked hard to balance the dreams of a young man and the realities of being born in an Indian middle class family. In one of the scenes, Anupam Kher, who plays the Dhoni’s father says that “ reading and writing would help you in making your living”. Even having the pressures of his father’s dream to become an Officer in the Railway Department, young Dhoni is faced with many choices and to lead a safe and simple life, but he chooses to believe in his talent and pursue his dreams risking a stable income and safe and steady future.
The film also delves into controversies with Dhoni and other senior cricket team members. “Yeh theeno ODI mein fit nehi hote”….’The Untold Story’ explores all.
Its also a known fact that Dhoni has a massive following in Tamil Nadu, and watching the trailer release the Tamil audiences were a little disappointed that the movie would not be released in their native language. So the producers of the movies decided to have a dub the movie and release a new Tamil trailer. The trailer was launched by actor Dhanush has received a huge positive acclaim.
Both the Tamil and Hindi versions have gone viral, and it certainly doesn’t hurt that Dhoni shared the trailer via Twitter saying “As I walked the path, the journey became my life”.
