Dr. Ausaf Sayeed, Consul General of Indian Consulate in Chicago, made an appeal to Indian-Americans, asking for their support of India national programs which are development-centric during a gathering on the eve of Republic Day.

He spoke from the heart, citing the same words used by President Pranab Mukherjee’s Republic Day Address to the Nation.

“The Republic Day is celebrated on January 26th, as the Constitution came into force and India formally became a Republic on this day in 1950. He stated that these celebrations glorify the lofty ideals of Justice, Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity, which are cherished by both India and the US”, said Dr. Sayeed.

Addressing a capacity crowd during Republic Day celebrations, Sayeed called upon Indian-Americans to approach the initiatives with a proactive effort to assist the government of India. Flagship programs such as, “Make in India,” “Skills India,” “Swatch Bharat Abhiyan,” “Digital India,” “Startup India,” and “Green India,” would advance India’s growth abroad significantly with support, Sayeed said.

He stressed “concrete action on your part, rather than mere rhetoric, is the pressing need of the hour,” to those in attendance.
