SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) – Tragic news out of San Francisco. Authorities say an Indian American teenager jumped to his death off the Golden Gate bridge. The 16-year-old boy’s bicycle, phone and bag were found nearby. Community leaders say this is the fourth incident involving an Indian American jumping off the bridge in an apparent suicide attempt.
It’s unclear why, but Congress is putting a pause on any more discussion about the new Equal Access to Green cards for Legal Employment Act . Also known as the EAGLE Act, it was proposed earlier this year to remove restrictions or country caps on immigration. It’s expected to benefit people from India seeking permanent residency in the US as wait times will be shorter.
After China and India’s most recent clash at the disputed border, the U.S. says it strongly opposes any attempts to expand territory and adds that the area is being closely monitored. The U.S. says it’s also glad to hear both sides quickly disengaged.
