CHICAGO (Diya TV) – An Indian American student at Purdue University in Indiana was killed in his dorm room by his roommate. Officials say the victim is 20-year-old Varun Manish Chheda, of Indianapolis, a senior who studied data science. Chheda’s roommate Jin Min Sha is the only suspect and is now in custody. The motive remains unclear.
In northern California, all four family members of a kidnapped Sikh family have been found dead in a rural almond orchard. 48 year old Jesus Manuel Salgado has been arrested in connection to the murders and tried to take his own life. Investigators are calling this senseless and trying to figure out the motive.
The University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of public affairs is the latest school on campus to add caste to it’s non discrimination policy. Advocacy group Equality Labs applauded the move which makes the U of M the first public university in the midwest to do so.
