DALLAS (Diya TV) – A 39-year-old Indian man has been charged with capital murder for allegedly stabbing to death his 9-year-old son in Texas. Subramanian Ponnazhakan was arraigned and the judge set bond at $1 million. Hundreds gathered at the young victim’s elementary school for a candlelight vigil.

In Texas, Indian American Manpreet Monica Singh has become the first female Sikh judge in the US. She was sworn in as a judge of the Harris County Civil Court. The ceremony was presided over by Texas’ first Indian American judge Ravi Sandill in a packed courtroom.

An Indian American man has admitted to paying bribes and kickbacks in exchange for having prescriptions steered to a pharmacy where he worked. Srinivasa Raju pleaded guilty and the pharmacy where he worked received more than $2 million in Medicare reimbursements. Raju is expected to be sentenced in the next few months.
