WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — As part of a strategic partnership, India, United Arab Emirates (UAE), and the United States agreed to build stronger defense collaboration through a trilateral military initiative. India is aiming to solidify its position among the world’s most prominent players and strengthen its defense capabilities.

The three nations will cooperate on a portfolio of military initiatives, covering such areas as joint training, intelligence sharing, and defense technological cooperation. The cooperation is meant to contribute to building regional security and stability, combatting terrorism, repelling enemies of maritime security, and safely ensuring the vital sea lanes in the Indo-Pacific region and in the Persian Gulf.

It has taken significant steps in its place as a major defense partner of the US, becoming a holding-ground for more robust cooperation in defense, including the advancement of military equipment sales. Their partnership with the UAE is also on the rise as the Gulf nation pushes for military modernization to make it a holdout for regional security.

The UAE has for a long time been regarded as one of the US’s most important partners in the Middle East, and the country has participated in multilateral operations in several parts of the world, including Afghanistan and Iraq. Given that the issue of India’s growing power and its defense requirements are critical concerns, this trilateral cooperation is a significant opportunity to pool resources and expertise through a collaborative approach aimed at dealing with a common concern-security.

The collaboration areas is focused on readiness in defense among the three nations, emphasizing counterterrorism, intelligence sharing, and joint military practices. These measures are expected to enhance interoperability between the armed forces of the three nations to make their joint operations much smoother if they face future security challenges.

Maritime security, especially concerning India’s strategic waters around the Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf are main focus items. Any one of these areas is important for global trade, and the security of sea lanes to them is very important in itself to international trade. The trilateral cooperation would ensure that the routes would be safe and have freedom of navigation without attacks by piracy.

The other leg of this trilateral endeavor would be the transfer of defense technology. As India is fast moving into defense manufacturing on its own, it would benefit from the gains of superior US and UAE defense technologies. This would not only add to the potency of the Indian armed forces but also augment India’s pursuit to become a defense hub.

Meanwhile, the United States will continue to maintain its leadership in Indo-Pacific and Middle East region security with high-end military technological superiority and expertise that aligns with its broader strategic objectives.
