WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — The Embassy of India hosted a powerful exhibition on Capitol Hill this week, drawing attention to the human toll of terrorism and honoring victims of one of India’s recent tragedies. Titled “The Human Cost of Terrorism,” the event marked the first anniversary of the deadly Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir that killed 26 civilians. The exhibition aimed to raise global awareness about terrorism and strengthen cooperation between India and the United States in counterterrorism efforts. Lawmakers, officials, and members of the Indian diaspora attended the event, signaling strong international support against terrorism.
The exhibition took place at the Cannon Caucus Room in the Cannon House Office Building on April 22, 2026. Organizers designed the event to focus on the personal and emotional impact of terrorism rather than just statistics.
Visitors explored interactive displays, watched videos,s and read survivor testimonies. These elements highlighted the strong and lasting effects of terror attacks on families and communities. Photographs and personal stories gave faces to the victims and made the tragedy more real for attendees. Organizers said the exhibition served as both a tribute and a call to action. It honored those who lost their lives while urging the global community to unite against terrorism in all forms.
The event commemorated the first anniversary of the Pahalgam terror attack, which took place in Jammu and Kashmir. Students, media representatives, and think tank members joined the event, making it one of the largest gatherings hosted by the Indian Embassy on Capitol Hill.
India’s Ambassador to the United States, Taranjit Singh Sandhu Kwatra, addressed the gathering and reaffirmed India’s firm stance against terrorism. He echoed the message of Narendra Modi, stating that India will never bow to terror. Kwatra emphasized the need for global unity and consistent action to combat terrorism. He called on nations to work together and adopt a zero-tolerance approach. Speakers at the event stressed that terrorism remains a global threat that requires coordinated international responses. They urged continued cooperation between India and the United States to tackle evolving security challenges.
