WARSAW, Poland (Diya TV) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Monday that Russia struck at least six energy targets despite President Donald Trump’s announcement of an energy ceasefire. He said Ukraine would halt attacks on Russian refineries only if Moscow stopped targeting Ukrainian energy infrastructure.

Trump declared Sunday that both countries had agreed to immediately stop energy strikes. Neither government publicly confirmed the agreement at the time.

Speaking by video to the Warsaw Security Forum, Zelenskyy said Kyiv learned about the announcement through the media. He welcomed a reciprocal halt to attacks but urged Washington to secure Russia’s compliance.

“We are ready to respect an energy ceasefire if Russia is ready to do the same. We agree if they agree,” he said.

Zelenskyy also offered to sign formal guarantees if Washington required them. He warned that Ukraine would respond if Russia refused to stop its attacks.

State-owned Naftogaz said a Russian jet-powered drone struck its gas production infrastructure in the Kharkiv region overnight, causing a fire and damaging critical equipment. Employees sheltered during the attack, and no one was injured at the facility. Repair crews were working to restore operations.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said discussions about an energy ceasefire continued but did not confirm an agreement. He separately rejected Zelenskyy’s proposal for a full sixty-day ceasefire that could allow Ukraine to prepare for elections.

The dispute follows Trump’s announcement Friday of a Russian diesel supply arrangement. European leaders and U.S. lawmakers have criticized sanctions relief tied to the deal, warning that additional export revenue could help Moscow finance its war.

European Union foreign ministers approved additional sanctions Monday as Ukraine’s allies maintained pressure on Russia.
