ROBBINSVILLE, N.J.(Diya TV) — Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel visited BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham in Robbinsville, New Jersey, on Saturday during his U.S. trip linked to the Vibrant Gujarat initiative.
Patel arrived at the sprawling Hindu cultural complex with senior Gujarat government officials. The delegation included Additional Chief Secretary of the Finance Department Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister and Secretary to the Chief Minister Vikrant Pandey.
At Akshardham, Pujya Brahmaviharidas Swami and Pujya Nilkanthsevadas Swami welcomed Patel. He then toured the complex and spoke with volunteers who help operate and maintain the site.
During his visit, Patel viewed the Akshardham Museum, which remains under construction. According to BAPS, the museum will feature 12 architectural replicas, 40 multimedia presentations, 85 immersive dioramas and 200 statues.
The museum aims to showcase India’s long history, culture and spiritual traditions. In addition, its exhibits will offer visitors a closer look at India’s heritage through architecture, art and multimedia experiences.
Patel also praised the volunteers who helped build Akshardham. He thanked them for their time and dedication.
“From my heart, I thank all the BAPS volunteers for their contributions to the construction of Akshardham, which will inspire many generations to come,” Patel said. He added that visitors from around the world could find a sense of peace at the site.
Pujya Brahmaviharidas Swami said Patel admired the detailed carvings and the scale of the mandir during his tour. He also said the chief minister appreciated the peaceful setting.
The senior BAPS swami described Patel’s visit as a privilege. He said the chief minister felt deeply moved by the complex and its spiritual atmosphere.
While touring the museum, Patel said, “You brought India’s ancient culture back to life,” according to BAPS.
BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham in Robbinsville includes a Hindu mandir along with cultural and educational facilities. BAPS, a volunteer-based Hindu organization, says it operates more than 120 mandirs in North America and more than 5,000 centers worldwide.
According to BAPS, his trip marks the first visit by a Gujarat chief minister to the United States in nearly three decades.
During the visit, Patel highlighted the importance of cultural institutions in maintaining ties with India. He also recognized the role of the diaspora in strengthening those connections.
