WASHINGTON DC (Diya TV) — The front lawn of a courthouse in Clarksdale, Mississippi will serve as the location and home of a large bronze bust of Mahatma Gandhi, the man who led India to its independence 75 years ago. It was gifted by the Indian Council for Cultural Affairs and the Consulate General of India. While the region has suffered loss of jobs in recent decades, the growing Indian American community has played a significant role in reversing that trend.
The Tata Group is flying high. The Indian conglomerate has been selected as the winning bidder to take over state-run carrier Air India, marking the end of years of struggle to privatize the financially troubled airline. Tata bid more than $2 billion.
Journalists Maria Ressa of the Philippines and Dmitry Muratov of Russia won the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize for their fight for freedom of expression in countries where reporters have faced persistent attacks, harassment, and even murder.
