WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — FBI Director Kash Patel has released a newly declassified report detailing what he claims are serious allegations of Chinese interference in the 2020 U.S. presidential election. The documents, now in the hands of Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, raise concerns about foreign meddling that some lawmakers say were ignored during the original post-election reviews.

Patel announced the move on X, stating that the FBI had “located documents which detail alarming allegations related to the 2020 US election, including interference by the CCP [Chinese Communist Party].” He added that the documents had been immediately declassified and submitted to Senator Grassley for further investigation.

In an interview with Just The News, Patel elaborated on the contents of the documents. He said they included claims that Chinese operatives smuggled thousands of fake driver’s licenses into the U.S. to fraudulently obtain mail-in ballots. These ballots, according to the report, were allegedly used to cast votes in favor of then-candidate Joe Biden.

“Specifically, these include allegations of plans from the CCP to manufacture fake driver’s licenses and ship them into the United States to facilitate fraudulent mail-in ballots,” Patel told Just The News. He added that the allegations were “substantiated,” yet the related intelligence was “abruptly recalled and never disclosed to the public.”

The declassification reportedly follows concerns from Senator Grassley (R-Iowa), who for years has pressed for transparency on election-related intelligence. Grassley has previously alleged that the FBI had documents related to 2020 election interference that were never thoroughly reviewed or released.

Although the 2020 election results were certified and upheld by multiple courts, former President Donald Trump and many of his supporters have continued to claim—without verified evidence—that the election was stolen. Those claims eventually led to the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, an effort to disrupt the certification of Biden’s victory.

However, foreign election interference has been a known concern long before this declassification. In August 2020, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) issued a warning that China, Russia, and Iran were all attempting to influence the election through overt and covert means. William Evanina, then director of the National Counterintelligence and Security Center, said China was seeking to prevent Trump’s re-election, while Russia was believed to be trying to undermine Biden’s campaign.

At the time, Trump acknowledged the intelligence report during a White House briefing, stating that his administration would look into the claims closely. He also said that he believed Russia would prefer Biden to win, pointing to his administration’s tough policies on Moscow.

Since returning to the presidency in January 2025, Trump has adopted a more conciliatory tone toward Russia. His administration has emphasized diplomacy over confrontation in dealings with Moscow, marking a notable shift from prior U.S. foreign policy.

While critics argue that Patel’s release could reignite unsubstantiated conspiracy theories, supporters say it’s a necessary step toward election transparency. Independent verification of the claims is still pending, and neither the Department of Justice nor the ODNI has released a statement on the newly declassified documents as of Tuesday.

Whether these new revelations will change public opinion or policy remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: the debate over election integrity and foreign influence is far from over.
