DENTON, Texas (Diya TV) — The University of North Texas has received a $20 million gift from Anuradha and Vikas Sinha to expand its work in artificial intelligence and advanced analytics and establish a college bearing their names.

UNT announced Sept. 8 that its College of Information will become the Anuradha and Vikas Sinha College of Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Analytics. The college will focus on the development, application and responsible use of artificial intelligence, intelligent systems and data analytics.

The gift will create six permanent endowments supporting college leadership, student scholarships, endowed professorships, entrepreneurship, advanced research and emerging technologies.

UNT said the college will bring together programs and research in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, advanced analytics, health informatics, information science, library science and learning technologies.

The university is working to organize the college into two academic divisions. The Division of Applied Intelligence and Informatics will focus on AI, cybersecurity, data science, analytics and health informatics. The Division of Information and Learning Applications will focus on information science, library science and learning technologies.

The college will also house a new Applied Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Institute designed to coordinate AI and analytics research across UNT and support shared infrastructure, external research funding and industry partnerships.

Vikas Sinha earned a Ph.D. in information science with a concentration in data science from UNT in 2023. He currently serves as vice president of Broadcom’s Mainframe Software Division and has been a member of the UNT College of Information Leadership Board since 2023.

Anuradha and Vikas Sinha came to the United States from India after earning bachelor’s degrees in civil engineering from Sri Venkateswara University. Both later earned graduate degrees from Florida Atlantic University.

The couple previously funded the Anuradha and Vikas Sinha Department of Data Science in 2024 and the Sinha Innovation Lab for Data Science in 2025.

UNT said it plans to hold a university celebration later this year recognizing the gift and the college’s new name.
