WASHINGTON D.C. (Diya TV) – The Senate confirmed 54-42 Dilawar Syed as the deputy administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA) after a two-year delay caused by Republican opposition. He is now the highest-ranking Muslim official in the Biden administration. Republicans blocked the Pakistani-American’s nomination due to concerns about agency payments to abortion providers and some still have objections, citing issues with loan disclosures and accountability at the SBA.

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak met with President Joe Biden at the White House to discuss Ukraine and a new economic partnership, though it fell short of a free trade agreement. In his remarks, Sunak said he’s focused on economic priorities, investment links, resilient supply chains, and promoting Britain as an AI leader.

All passengers on an Air India flight from New Delhi to San Francisco are back home safely after an emergency landing brought more than two hundred people unexpectedly to Russia. The U.S. State Department said about 50 passengers on board are American citizens. And every passenger is receiving a full refund and vouchers for future flights.
