SAN FRANCISCO (Diya TV) – Yuba City Mayor Wade Kirchner and Sikh community leaders in the Central Valley in a new letter are urging their Assemblyman James Gallagher to reject SB 403, California’s proposed caste legislation introduced by State Senator Aisha Wahab. They join recent calls for additional scrutiny by Assemblymembers Evan Low and Alex Lee, who are asking for an official study on the existence of caste discrimination.
Russian President Vladimir Putin criticized organizers of a recent revolt as “traitors” who served Ukraine’s government and its allies. In a late-night TV address, Putin aimed for stability by balancing criticism of the uprising without alienating its supporters. He praised rank-and-file mercenaries for preventing major bloodshed, but local support for the uprising was evident. Western officials, including US President Joe Biden, distanced themselves from the revolt, while the leader of the mercenary Wagner Group defended his actions. Pakistani-British businessman Shahzada Dawood and his 19 year old son Suleman were among the five people who died on a submarine expedition to view the ‘Titanic’ on the ocean floor. The submersible suffered a catastrophic implosion, killing everyone on board.
