NEW DELHI (Diya TV) — U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday said in a speech that the United States and India must continue to cooperate on global challenges. He made the statement while addressing a diplomatic gathering in New Delhi, touting the increasing strategic cooperation between the two nations based on their shared values and goals on issues such as security, technology, and economic development.
“India and the United States are stronger when we work together,” Blinken said. “As two of the world’s largest democracies, we share a vision for a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific, and we are committed to working alongside each other to confront the challenges of the 21st century.”
The visit of Blinken takes place amid deepening ties between the U.S. and India, particularly in defense and technology. The Quad, a strategic alliance involving the U.S., India, Japan, and Australia, has become a key platform for regional security cooperation. Blinken underlined the importance of the Quad in promoting stability in the Indo-Pacific region by stating, “Through the Quad, we are ensuring that the region remains free from coercion and that international law is upheld.
Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar had similar sentiments, stressing that partnership with the U.S. is central to the region’s stability. “We see the United States as a crucial partner in our efforts to build a resilient, inclusive Indo-Pacific. Together, we can address global challenges such as climate change, cyber threats, and the rise of emerging technologies,” Jaishankar said.
The two leaders also discussed economic cooperation, particularly in the area of clean energy and green technologies. Blinken praised India’s leadership in renewable energy and said the U.S. is committed to supporting India’s transition to a low-carbon economy. “Our countries are working together on innovative solutions to address climate change, from solar energy projects to electric vehicles,” Blinken added.
Security cooperation remains a keystone of the U.S.-India relationship. As part of this, Blinken referred to the recently enlarged defense ties, joint military exercises, and even defence technology sharing as indicative of strong strategic alignment between these two nations.
Blinken’s visit is part of broader efforts to strengthen U.S. alliances in the Indo-Pacific amid growing concerns about China’s influence in the region. He reaffirmed Washington’s support for India as a leading power in Asia and a key partner in global governance.
Indeed, over the past several years, relations between the U.S. and India have considerably flourished since both recognize that stronger collaboration would result in mutual strategic and economic interests. According to Blinken, “Together, we can shape the future of the Indo-Pacific and ensure that it is a region where all nations, big and small, can prosper.”
