WASHINGTON (Diya TV) — Americans4Hindus (A4H), a national organization dedicated to political empowerment and representation of Hindu Americans, hosted Americans4Hindus Week in Washington, D.C., from November 5–9, 2025. The five-day event marked a major milestone for Hindu American political engagement, featuring leadership discussions, community roundtables, and advocacy sessions aimed at strengthening the Hindu voice in U.S. public life.

The event brought together delegates, presidents, trustees, and volunteers—called Karmayogis—from 18 state chapters across the country. Participants gathered to highlight the urgent need for greater Hindu representation in government and policymaking.

Dr. Romesh Japra, founder and chairman of Americans4Hindus, set the tone with a powerful message about civic participation. “American Hindus are ready to participate and contribute to the political arena and governance just as we have contributed to IT, medicine, business, education, and other leading sectors,” he said. “We are prepared to participate from school boards to the Presidency, empowering democracy with our Hindu values.”

An unexpected shutdown at the U.S. Capitol caused Americans4Hindus to lose its reserved meeting space. Instead of postponing, the organization turned the challenge into a moment of resilience. Delegates gathered outside the Capitol at the official press podium, reaffirming their commitment to political engagement.

Their message emphasized that Hindu Americans are among the highest per-capita income earners in the United States and have made lasting contributions to science, technology, health care, entrepreneurship, and education. Despite these achievements, the community remains significantly underrepresented in public policy and governance.

Congressman Suhas Subramanyam joined the delegates for an afternoon session and encouraged them to take an active role in the nation’s political process. “If we want representation that respects our community, we must show up, organize, and lead,” he said.

The session underscored the importance of building a consistent Hindu American presence in civic and political spaces, from local school boards to national offices.

A strategic meeting during Americans4Hindus Week brought together leaders from a wide range of Indian American associations. The gathering included cultural, religious, professional, business, educational, and political groups. Dr. Suvas Desai of Kentucky coordinated the meeting with a shared goal—to unite and amplify the collective influence of the Indian diaspora in the United States.

Organizers said the coalition aims to strengthen collaboration on key policy issues and ensure that Indian Americans have a coordinated voice in shaping the nation’s future.

Delegates also paid tribute to the late Krishna Srinivasa, a pioneer who dedicated four decades to inspiring Hindu and Indian Americans to engage in politics. His lifelong work continues to influence organizations like Americans4Hindus, which are building on his vision of representation and empowerment.

A leadership retreat at the Art of Living Center in Washington, D.C., brought together participants to develop a roadmap for future growth. Leaders discussed bold national initiatives, including the Hindu Rajneeti Academy, Hindu Voter Guide, Hindu–Buddhist–Sikh–Jain Congressional Caucus, Alliance Wings for women and youth, and Rakshak, a civil rights advocacy program.

Delegates pledged their time, talent, and resources to scale these initiatives nationwide. The retreat reinforced the group’s long-term mission to create a sustainable political movement for Hindu Americans.

A major highlight of Americans4Hindus Week was the launch of the National Hindu-Jewish Coalition of America (HJCA). The new platform will foster interfaith cooperation and shared democratic values between Hindu and Jewish communities.

Nissim Reuben, who will serve as the inaugural executive director of HJCA, will coordinate joint efforts in policy advocacy, cultural exchange, and civic engagement. The coalition aims to promote pluralism, civil liberties, and mutual support among diverse faith communities.

Americans4Hindus is a non-partisan, national grassroots organization focused on political education, empowerment, and representation of Hindu Americans. The group is registered with the Federal Election Commission as a Super PAC, Hybrid PAC, and Multi-Candidate PAC.
